The End of Summer and a Psychotic Serial Killer

Matched_hc_condieWell guys and gals, it’s been a great summer. I have had a
great time blogging and getting to know you a bit better through your comments.
There are so many movies based on books that are either slated for release in
the near future or where the copyrights have been bought out by BIG name
productions companies, so they will be hitting a theatre near you some time in
the distant future. It seems that movies based on books have landed in big way,
especially in the last couple of years… Did you know that there have been
bidding wars over the rights to certain titles? Even those where the book has
yet to be released? (Ally Condie’s book Matched sparked such a war a year
before the book even hit shelves!!!).

My last request to all of you is to give me one title (oh,
okay, maybe two or three if you really want
to) of a book that you have read that you would turn into a movie if you were a
producer AND who you would like to see star in it?

I would love to see Dean Koontz’s From the Corner of His Eye
turned
Cillian-Murphy-in-Red-Eye-cillian-murphy-31673520-1280-964
into a feature film. I read this book in grade 11 and really enjoyed it.
I have recommended it to numerous people over the years and have always gotten
good feedback. In fact, one of my friends borrowed my copy and never returned
it (don’t you hate when people do that?). I have no idea who I would want to
star in it, but one of the main characters is a delusional, psychopathic serial
killer, and I think Cillian Murphy would be a good choice. He has the whole ‘evil,
psychotic, I’m gonna get you and you won’t even see it coming’ look down to a
T.

  1. I’d love for the book series “The Selection” to turn into a movie. I’d want for Ginny Gardner or Skyler Samuels to star as America Singer, and Zac Efron to star as Maxon.

  2. I would suggest The Giver by Lois Lowry and I would pick Jayden Smith. Anything by Christopher Pike. Maybe a remake of S.E Hinton books and use some of our current young adult actors that we as teens can relate to. Ie Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth just a few suggestions…there are others of course.

  3. Good choice, Alice. There hasn’t been much posted about the movie, but there is some buzz about a 2014 release date.
Is there any one in particular you’d like to see star as Saba?

  4. She is meant to be really dark-haired and she is really intense, and because of her hunger (both for food and her drive) I picture her with really sharp features. I imagine someone who looks like a younger Angie Harmon or Sara Silverman, I think, but can’t think of someone who fits that look. Maybe a new face! That might be nice.

  5. I would take the novel “Time After Time” and turn it into a movie. It is about a girl who travels back in time 100+ years. It would be very interesting. I would star Rachel McAdams as the main heroine.
