Far From You
Far From You by Tess Sharpe (2014)*
What a great murder mystery! The best part about this book for me were the characters. Not only did they have their highs and lows, they were beautifully flawed and realistic, and so honest, especially the main character, Sophie.
Sophie has evaded death twice. Once, when she was only 14 years old and was in a near fatal car accident. Although she beat death, she couldn’t beat the addictiveness of the pain killers that were administered to her in the aftermath. The second time was in the woods, where a masked man attacked her and her best friend, Mina. Unfortunately, Mina wasn’t as lucky.
With Mina’s death considered the outcome of drug deal gone wrong, and Sophie to blame, Sophie is forced into rehab. But Sophie knows this was deliberate. Mina was singled out, and there has to be a reason for it.
Upon her return home, nothing is the same, and Mina’s murderer is still on the loose. Taking it upon herself to solve her best friend’s murder, Sophie delves deeper and deeper into the mystery surrounding the murder, and surrounding Mina.
As she sets off on a dangerous journey to uncover the truth, will she be lucky enough to beat death a third time?
