Yarn Bombing by Mandy MooreYarn bombing is a little like graffiti, but with knitting instead of spray paint.

We've posted about yarn bombing on this blog a few times last summer. Yarn bombing can'take many forms, but generally it involves attaching a handmade knitted item to an object in a public space – like a tree, a lamppost, a bicycle – even a bridge.

Some people take part in yarn bombing because they want to make everyday life more beautiful, fun, or surprising; others do it because of its connection with political street art and guerilla activism.

Hoopla by Leanne PrainYarn bombing can also be used as a way to embellish old photographs, to modify make them more beautiful, or surprising, or even political in some way.

Join us at the Bloor/Gladstone branch on Monday July 14, 2-4 pm, and take your pics to a whole new level. Just bring a photograph that you want to embellish and we'll show you how to do the rest!

Register in the branch or call 416-393-7674.

  1. The other week, my friend taught me what yarn bombing is. I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit. This event sounded like a great opportunity!
