“Will Sara be able to forgive hereself?” — TEASE – reviewed

Emma Putnam probably wished that she had never been born. Why else would she have wrapped an extension cord around her neck and hung herself from the ceiling of her paren't’s garage? After all, it’s not like someone made her do it… Sara insists that they never meant for it to get this far. She and her friends, especially her BFF Brielle were only joking. They were just trying to teach her a lesson. The whole school knew that Emma was a boyfriend-stealer, and a couple of other nastier things. She deserved it. But now Emma’s dead, and people are starting to turn on Sara. She is left alone to flounder, abandoned by the people she thought would believe her, and denied contact from the people she knew would be on her side. Reluctantly, she opens up to Natalie, her frazzled lawyer, and Teresa, her court-appointed therapist. The roses, the valentine’s day sign, the locker room confrontation and the names: everything is revealed. With the trial closing in, will the public finally be able to forgive Sara? And will she be able to forgive herself?
Unfortunately, Tease is loosely based on a true story that author Amanda Maciel heard about while visiting a school; regrettably bullying and teen suicide aren’t rare occurrences. Her book switches perspective from Sara “pre-madness” to Sara “post-madness”, and while the actual switches between chapters are not well defined, the reader can clearly grasp the development of Sara’s character. This book is a much-needed account of why it might not be such a good idea to tease.

I’ve seen numerous posts about this book, but I still have yet to read it. Sounds like a very interesting book though.
Hmm, a book from the perpetrator’s perspective rather than the victim’s – sounds very intriguing. Hopefully all copies aren’t on hold by now.
