Bunker diary
“I thought he was blind. That’s how he got me.” Linus, the teenage son of a wealthy author has been kidnapped. Of course, no one will miss him; he ran away from home five months ago and has been thriving as a street kid. But because Linus is a nice person, he offered to help a blind man with his suitcase. He was going to put it in the back of the man’s vehicle, but the man wanted it in the front seat. “‘Please,’ he said, ‘I’m in a hurry’”. That was when Linus started to suspect things, and that was when the man thrust a chloroform-soaked cloth at him.

He woke up all alone, with a pounding headache, in a strange place. It’s an underground bunker of some sort, complete with a bathroom, kitchen, elevator, and rooms for six people. There is a notebook and pen inside each bedroom, and after selecting one, Linus begins to write. As more people arrive in the bunker, the need to escape becomes stronger. And as the 6 people stay in the bunker for weeks on end, the need to survive becomes overwhelming. Will Linus ever be able to escape the bunker? Will he even manage to stay sane? Read The Bunker Diary to find out.

Fans of Criminal Minds and other similar crime shows are familiar with the cunning and sadistic abductors and murderers. You watch as the team of investigators put together clues, closing in on the suspect and saving the victim from a certain death. But what if, like Linus, you were the victim, not the detective? Kevin Brooks puts a haunting spin on an already terrifying tale, climaxing at an ending that is sure to keep you up at night.

  1. Oh my, I’m honestly scared of the show criminal minds…very intense and confusing. Just like this book…Is there a reason this man want people in a bunker??? I mean, prisoners are expensive to keep. What does he want with 6 people???? Gah now I can’t sleep.

  2. I know how you feel! I am somewhat terrified of crime shows and the types of movies where people get kidnapped and etc. (for example, the movie Prisoners). One part of me wants to read this book but the other part of me knows that if I do, I won’t be able to sleep for a while.

  3. Exactly! My imagination is messed up and so much exposure to violence and horror weather it be in book or media, has scared the lights out of me. I would love to read the book to find out why the man wants 6 people to live in a bunker as well as want he plans to do with them. However, if I do read it, I’ll probably too scared to sleep for weeks.

  4. Ahhh jeez, this line freaks me out “a haunting spin on an already terrifying tale, climaxing at an ending that is sure to keep you up at night.” Since I have a much lower tolerance for scares, this is not the book for me. The camera reminds me of saw…Erghhh now I’m freaking out. It also reminds me of the human centipede. Why else would someone want to imprison 6 random people??? Unless the selection process wasn’t random…Gahhhh.

  5. I haven’t read this book yet, but I think that it will be an interesting book. I think that the boy got fooled. This is because he thought that the man was blind, but the man tricked him.
