What would you do?
Have you ever done something on the spur of the moment that had negative consequences for someone else?
I just read a book about someone who swerved their car slightly into the path of an oncoming speeder, just to give him a scare, and the speeder ended up slamming into a tree and dying. The man did not fess up and the ripple effect of that he was living in fear of being sued, his wife left him and his beloved daughter was drifting away from him. Was it all worth it? I think not.
We've all heard of or witnessed incidences where someone is in trouble because of someone else. What would you do if you caused someone to experience some ill fate as a result of your actions? Would your conscience let you sleep at night?

Hey Tara, what was the name of the book? It sounds intriguing.
NO, I wouldn’t sleep at night. I would probably feel guilty the rest of my life. In fact I had an incidence where I think I made people commit a wrongdoing. I still feel guilty.
Well, it really depends on who it was.
I mean, if it was a random person to someone I really love, I would probably feel guilty for the rest of my life. In some cases, I may end up suffering from this incident or going to a hospital specialized for people like me. I would never sleep soundly for the rest of my life.
If it was my enemy, and that person was trying to kill me or cause someone I really love ill fate, I would be happy that he/she was gone. I would still confess my crime, though. (Kinda cold hearted, I know.)
Hey nubchewy, the book is called “Long Drive Home” by Will Allison.
You “think” that you were responsible but you really don’t know. You feel guilty but do you confess to something for no reason, suppose it really was not your fault. The mind is a funny thing.
Good for you, commendable.
Either way, it doesn’t really matter whether someone is your enemy or your friend. If you’ve recognized that you’ve done the deed, take responsibility. Everyone is still a person – no matter if you have good or bad morals.
I’ve experienced being the one causing the effect and the one taking all the blame for it – and it always starts with the “cause” factor. I think that if you have good morals, you definitively WOULD not be able to sleep peacefully at night.
