The York Woods branch is home to many exciting resources, but one that we are particularly proud of is the Rita Cox Black and Caribbean Heritage Collection. Started in 1973 at the Parkdale branch, the collection focuses on the history and culture of the Black and Caribbean communities, especially those within Canada. In the collection you will find books (both fiction and non-fiction), DVDs and CDs for children, teens and adults. There are great resources that suit many different needs, whether you are conducting research for a project, curious about your culture or interested in different societies.

York Woods is one of three branches that is home to the collection – the others are Malvern, Maria A. Shchuka and Parkdale. There is also a page on the Toronto Public Library website for those wondering, "Who is Rita Cox?"
