The Journey of Growth | Shreya Jha
Earthly scents and
ripping sun,
Inhaling the fresh
new day
The end of the
road, the first chapter done
Continue to the
next, one may
A mixed and patched
road lying ahead
Flag land, barriers
and blocks
Bog weed, thorns,
roses of red,
Trees and jagged
rocks
The prairies those
of paradise
As simple as a
world of toys
The softer grass,
the bluer skies
A place with
endless joys
But the rocks crush
the spirit and pull at the pride
No layers of tact
that they own
Cold, sharp shards,
no-one kind to confide
Bringing a yearning
for home.
But round the bend
is the apple tree
Sweet, guilty balls
of gold
Branches of escape,
burdens are free
Sinful stories
unfold
Though that tree’s
a trap, a few blocks ahead,
The seeds of love,
they bloom
A feeling not
thought of, the pages unread
Raptures and
heaven, or doom
The road, so
quaint, diverse, and full
Easier the farther
one goes
So much is learned,
that nothing seems dull
Realize how much
one knows
A wall makes quite
a clashing contrast
And just like the
theatre hall
Blurred stories of
the journey’s past
These ghosts now
beckon and call
Gripping arms
enslave the mind
Begging for easier
days
Of treats and
praise and wonders to find
When problems were
just a faze
The journey is hard,
a common thought,
It might yield a
helpful clue
The way folks
approach it varies a lot
But everyone makes
it through
