Book coverClick: The Ultimate Photography Guide for Generation Now by Charlie Styr and Maria Wakem

In Click: The Ultimate Photography Guide for Generation Now, award-winning 18-year-old photographer Charlie Styr, with writer and photography editor Maria Wakem, compiled this book filled with over 150 phtoos taken by other youth worldwide. Along with covering the basics of photography, Styr shares professional tips from new and established pros, including Pulitzer Prize winner Vincent Laforet, National Geographic photographer David McLain, and celebrity photographer Chris Buck.

For a total beginner like myself, this book is really practical and very easy to use. Whenever Styr explains a photographic concept, he demonstrates it with a photo. I never really understood the difference between fast and slow shutters but now I do. 🙂

I am also impressed with the photo contribution by Canadian youth. Many of them are quite creative and beautiful.

I especially like the photo on page 47. It's really cool! 😀

  9. 2 days ago I finished readin ‘ I was a non-blonde cheerleader’ by Lizabeth Zindel. Its all about a high school where EVERY girl and boy is blonde-except her and a girl who becomes her friend after-and the new brunette girl shows the blonds that they have no right to put her down and that she can do the same as the girls.
Good book I have to say.

  17. I finished reading this book a couple of weeeks ago. I thought that the pictures were really great but I thought that there was to much information on one page. I found it hard to continue reading because there was so much information on one page. I think this book would have been better with a little less information on one page, but the tips in it were great! I’ve already started taking really great pictures.

  23. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies. Everytime I go on a field trip… or anywhere i always take my own camera with me. I remember taking pictures of the grass from different angles at Niagara Falls. I know that sound crazy, but I find it fun.
I would want to win this book because, as said in the discription above that this books is for the people who are interested in this very unique art, Photography. And they want to learn more of it. So, thats the same as I think, I really ant to get better at photography.
This book will also be my first Non- Fiction I have ever read from the library. And it’ll also be my first Charlie Styr and Maria Waken book.
I also appreciate the fact ablout how this book includes contributions from different teens around the world.
I’m hoping forward for reading this exciting Photograpgy book.

  25. @Tasfia: Developing photos in a dark room is when you take pictures using a camera with film roll(old cameras). And then you go into a dark room to develop them. The room has to be dark with no light because if light gets to the film, it will be ruined and your pictures won’t come out. There are shallow bins with chemical solutions, and you transfer your images from the film unto special photo paper by soaking them into the chemical solutions. Then you hang them to dry. I don’t know exactly how it works, but that’s the general idea. I haven’t tried it, but i would like to.

  27. Wah, it’s been a a little while since this has been posted, but I’m glad I’ve stumbled upon it. I really like looking at photography, esp more so from youth. I always feel nice seeing how creativity isn’t yet dying xD
I immediately put this on hold once I read the review, and it’s saying something since it’s the first time I’ve felt interested enough to do that. Thanks for the post!
