FlatStanley
The book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown inspired kids at both the Steeles and Bridlewood
TD Summer Reading Club(s) to make themselves “GO!” flat.  They created 2-D “self-portraits” that were then sent up or down Warden Avenue to the neighbouring branches and
used to create two displays that included the following poem:

A bulletin board first made Stanley flat

And a bulletin board is now where it’s at

To see “flat” kids from the (Bridlewood/Steeles) TD SRC

Who’ve come for a visit to this library.

These artful creations do make a great show.

We made them to celebrate this summer of “GO!”

When friends come to visit, it fills all with glee,

So thanks for the idea Jeff Brown’s Flat Stanley!

Of course, not all of the “Stanleys” that were created made it to display boards:  some children just couldn’t bear to part with their creations and they decided to take themselves home instead. We can only imagine all of the adventures that these other “Flat Kids"are “GO!”ing to get in to this summer.

~Thanks to Katherine and Sophia from Bridlewood and Steeles Branches for the update!
