There are a slew of movies based on Young Adult books coming out this year and early next…
And..
…So why not check out some of these great novels (okay, and a play that is not really Young Adult, but is FULL of teenage angst) from the library before going to see the film? Most of the titles above are also available as eBooks or eAudiobooks from Overdrive.
I always try to read or re-read the book before seeing the movie adaptation. Sometimes I am really surprised and delighted by how well the movie turns out, and other times…not so much (read: Beautiful Creatures; Mortal Instruments: City of Bones – both major disappointments to me). Sometimes I love a book so much, I refuse to see the movie, afraid it might somehow taint my reading experience (I refuse to see any Hunger Games movies!!)
Also in the works are film versions of John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, and Gayle
Forman's If I Stay!
