Hart House Theatre is now accepting submissions to audition for The Crucible

Deadline for Submissions: Monday, October 16, 2017 – early submissions are encouraged.

Non-union (ACTRA or Equity), Non-paying

Those contacted for auditions will be seen the week of October 23, with callbacks on October 29. Only those contacted for an audition will be seen. Part-time rehearsals begin November 12. Performance run: Jan. 19-Feb. 3, 2018

Artists of all ethnic, cultural, sexual and gender identities are strongly encouraged to submit.

Audition Requirements: Actors are asked to prepare one dramatic monologue (max. 1.5 minutes). Additionally, actors should be prepared to read from the text as some sides may be provided.

It is recommended that actors familiarize themselves with the characters and material in the play.

A copy of the play is available at the 5th floor Information Desk of the Arts Dept, Toronto Reference Library. 789 Yonge St.

About the Play: When a jilted lover seeks revenge, a deeply religious community is thrown into turmoil, and the law begins to turn on the very residents it should protect. A timeless play and a pivotal work, The Crucible is a tale of caution that warns of the deadly consequences when a society allows fear, suspicion and superstitious gossip to rule over facts and reason.
