Audition for New Ideas Festival, Alumnae Theatre Company
Actors (non-union) of all ages (18+) and ethnicities are needed for New Ideas Festival 2018, a three-week juried festivalof 15 new works. A program of 4 different plays will be presented each week, running from Wednesday to Sunday,
with a staged reading at noon on each Saturday. Learn more about the 30th annual New Ideas Festival.
NIF encourages actors from diverse communities to audition; this year NIF has roles calling for non-binary actors.
- Performances run March 7–25, 2018
- General Festival Auditions will be held during the day on January 6 & 7 and during the evenings on January 8, 9 & 10.
- Callbacks the second/third week of January.
- Auditions will be in the Studio Theatre, 70 Berkeley Street.
- Actors must be available for rehearsals beginning January 30.
- Auditions will be booked according to age and gender, so actors should keep all the audition dates free until they receive an audition time.
- Actors will perform a two-minute monologue of their choice and a side from one of the plays. (Alumnae members have the choice of reading two sides rather than presenting a prepared monologue.) View sides here.
- Please print an appropriate side and bring it to the audition along with your résumé and headshot.
- All directors and many playwrights attend the general auditions, so be prepared for a full house.
- NOTE: NIF does festival casting, so you are not auditioning for a specific play or role.
To book an audition, email: NIFauditions@gmail.com with your name, gender, acting age range, email address, phone number, and state whether you are an Alumnae member.
