Rumour Has It:

 

Synopsis:  Rumour Has It is a one-act comedy which asks is gossip necessarily bad? When Rachel Stern and her synagogue women's group hear an outrageous rumour about her ex-husband's fiancĂ©, they argue about the virtue of gossip, until the fiancĂ©e herself arrives!

 

 

Characters:

Roz Feldman      Sisterhood President      55 yrs.

Fanny Gross       Sisterhood Member        80 yrs.

Zoe Gould          Sisterhood Member        35 yrs

Norman Kaplan    Sisterhood Member       Male, undisclosed age.

 Rachel Stern       Ex-wife                        40 yrs

Judith Davar        Fiancee                        40 yrs.

 

The play takes place in a synagogue's kitchen.  

 

 

Zimmerman's Neighbourhood:

 

Synopsis: The play takes place in Toronto's Jewish area.  A Jewish store owner is reminiscing about the history of Spadina Avenue to his nephew who tries to convince him to sell his "shmateh" store for a high real estate value.  Various customers come in: the uncle deals with them most unprofessionally.

 

 

Characters:  2 men:  one elderly, one 40ish  and  2 women, late 60s.

 

 

The following information applies to both plays.

 

Auditions:     Sunday, July 21, 2019

                       Monday July 22, 2019.

These are "stage readings" and do not require memorizing.

 

Rehearsals:     Maximum of 3 rehearsals per week beginning late July.

Performances: September 5th, 8th, 10th, 2019.

Both plays will be performed on the same dates and at the same venues.

The Borochov Cultural Centre, the Beth David Synagogue and the Beth Emeth Synagogue.
