AUDITION NOTICE

ON STAGE: March 11th, 2022 – 2nd April, 2022
(Non-union, non-paying. We do not cast full equity or ACTRA members.)
ALL ACTORS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED.
AUDITIONS will be held ON ZOOM at the following dates and times:
· Sunday January 2nd: 12noon to 15.30h
· Monday January 3rd: 18.30 to 21.30h
· Thursday January 6th: 18.30h to 21.30h
Callbacks will be held AT THE VILLAGE PLAYHOUSE, 2190E Bloor St. West (around the corner from Runnymede subway station):
· Saturday, January 8th: from 19.00h
REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES Will be held at the Village Playhouse, subject to Covid restrictions. Rehearsals will generally be Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sundays afternoons but are flexible depending on actor availability. The first rehearsal will be on Thursday 13th January at 19.00h, at the theatre. Actors must be available for Tech Week, starting Sunday March 6th
PLAY SYNOPSIS
Based on an old, juicy spy novel, this is a madcap comedy with fast character, scene and action changes. Hitchcock meets Monty Python.
CHARACTERS:
· Richard Hannay: 30-50 Attractive, pencil moustache, well-spoken. Capable of physical comedy
· Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret: 30+ Able to do accents (German, Scottish, British). Capable of physical comedy.
· Clown #1: 30+Versatile character actor, able to do a variety of accents and voices. Capable of physical comedy.
· Clown#2: 30+Versatile character actor, able to do a variety of accents and voices. Capable of physical comedy
NOTES: Improv and Clown experience an asset for all characters
PREPARATION: Please prepare a 2-3-minute comedic monologue. Actors must also READ THE PLAY (an e-copy will be available upon request) and be prepared for a cold read and possibly evidence of accents and physical comedy ability.
