AUDITION NOTICE: A Scandal for All Seasons 

Theatre by the Bay is holding auditions for three roles in A Scandal for All Seasons, presented in partnership with Theatre Collingwood, premiering in August 2022. This production is produced under the DOT agreement. both Equity and non-Equity actors are welcome to audition. 

THE COMPANY

TBTB is a professional regional theatre organization focused on the development and production of new plays about the Simcoe County region and empowering local artists.

THE SHOW

A Scandal for all Seasons is an original risqué comedy about two Barrie socialites who engage in a "battle of the bulge" over the sexy, progressive Mayor of Barrie, who turns to them for help with his re-election campaign. This show will tour to the Simcoe Street Theatre in Collingwood from August 2nd to 6th, 2022, and then run in Barrie at the Five Points Theatre from August 10th to 21st, 2022. 

THE PROCESS

Rehearsals will begin in-person the week of July 11th, running Monday to Friday, until July 29th. All rehearsals will be held in Toronto. Tech at the Simcoe Street theatre will run from July 30th to August 1st, and tech at the Five Points Theatre will run from August 7th to 9th.

PERFORMANCES

There will be seven (7) performances at the Simcoe Street Theatre from August 2nd to 6th, 2022, and thirteen (13) at the Five Points Theatre from August 10th to 21st, 2022. 

COMPENSATION

DOT Performer, Tier 1

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS

  • AUGUSTA PEACOCK: A wealthy socialite, early 50s to 60s. Sophisticated and confident.
  • DORIS LESTER: A wealthy socialite, early 50s to 60s, friends with Augusta. Sophisticated and confident.
  • BIFF WORTHINGTON: A handsome, athletic, upstanding mayor of Barrie, late 20s to mid 30s. 

AUDITIONS

Initial auditions will take place virtually over Zoom on Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th. Callbacks will be held in-person on Sunday, June 12th in Toronto, ON.

  • To be considered for an audition, please submit ONE (1) PDF file that includes both an updated headshot and resumé, saving the file using your name as the file name (i.e.: Smith.Jane.pdf)
  • Please include which roles you would like to read for. Note that all actors will be considered for all roles, regardless of which one(s) they indicate.
  • Please email submissions to auditions@theatrebythebay.com to the attention of Iain Moggach, Artistic Director.
  • Deadline for submissions: Thursday, June 9th at 12pm EST.
