GOD OF CARNAGE

by Yasmina Reza (Translated by Christopher Hampton)

Director: Mark Datuin

Lead Producer: Jon Chaters – The Toronto Stage Company

THE PLAY

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play and the 2009 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy.

This dark comedy features two sets of paren'ts who meet to discuss a playground altercation between their eleven-year-old boys. The evening begins with diplomacy and order, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions arise, and the gloves come off, it soon degenerates into an evening of chaos and insanity.

GOD OF CARNAGE will operate as a Tier-2 production under the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association Dance Opera Theatre (DOT) Policy. This Casting Call is open to both Equity and Non-Equity Performers.

AVAILABLE ROLES

Alan Raleigh (35+)

Rude corporate lawyer, preoccupied with his phone. At first seen as cool and aloof, he is sexist and self-absorbed.

Michael Novak (35+)

Seemingly the peacemaker at first, his uncouth nature is slowly revealed. He makes racial comments and regresses from a good-natured hardware store salesperson to a neurotic Neanderthal.

Annette Raleigh (35+) – Understudy

Presenting herself as an elite member of the one percent, she is on the brink of a panic attack. Anxiety-ridden.

Veronica Novak (35+) – Understudy

A writer who fancies herself as a good citizen, but is really judgmental and domineering. As the situation disintegrates so does her façade of civility.
