The Spawning Grounds, by Gail Anderson-Dargatz
This very promising family saga is set amidst the environmental struggles of the Shuswap of the British Columbian interior. By the author of The Cure for Death by Lightning and A Recipe for Bees.
The Vanishing Year, by Kate Moretti
A New York socialite is not all she seems to be. Suspense!!
The Parcel, by Anosh Irani
When a transgender sex worker in Bombay's red-light district reaches her forties, she confronts an agonizing ethical dilemma. Another one on my to-read list.
Darktown, by Thomas Mullen
Mullen looks at the roots of police racism in the American South through the lens of a postwar police procedural.
Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd, by Alan Bradley
If you like Christmas mysteries featuring vicars, cats, and girl detectives, you are going to so enjoy this.

The Story of a Brief Marriage, by Anuk Arudpragasam

The Break, by Katherena Vermette
Coming soon
Death of an Avid Reader (uh-oh!), by Frances Brody
This title is just too alarming to contemplate. Nonetheless: 1 haunted library + 1 feisty detective + 1 Capuchin monkey ought to equal 1 very cozy mystery.
The Hidden Keys, by Andre Alexis
This sounds like a romp and a half: in the Green Dolphin bar in Parkdale, a heroin-addicted heiress ropes a professional thief into helping her to secure five artifacts (including an aquavit bottle and a model of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater) from her ne'er-do-well siblings. Quests and puzzles ensue.
I must say, the whole list looks pretty promising. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the new AndrĂ© Alexis – how about you?
