Springing into a New Season
Almost two weeks after the official spring equinox, residents of Toronto are finally experiencing early-spring like temperatures. This follows after a storm that gave us a back lash of the blistery winter season we experienced this year. For me, it was an early April fools Day joke gone awry – it had me complaining for days! But now that the air has cleared, we are springing into a new season and with any new season, new activities are on the horizon.
Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated activities of the spring is gardening. For some of us, gardening reminds us of the nurturing power of mother earth – there is something about witnessing growth before our eyes that oozes gratification. Of course, some gardeners see more growth than others. But seeing that certain methods and materials may render more fruitful results, you can believe that mother earth does not take sides.
If you are interested in becoming more familiar with new gardening methods, why not join the Barbara Frum Library and Toronto Green Community in a fresh workshop that will prepare you for the garden you always wished for. You will also witness a hands-on-demonstration and you’ll have the chance to meet gardeners in your area. The seminar starts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday April 6.
