Eleanor Catton Wins Man Booker Prize

LuminariesThis year, the Man Booker Prize was awarded to Eleanor Catton for the novel The Luminaries. Catton was born in London, Ontario but moved to New Zealand as a child. The Luminaries is set in a New Zealand gold mining town in the nineteenth century.

The Man Booker Prize is of the most prestigious literary prizes, presented each year for a full length novel written in English by a citizen of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Republic of Ireland or Zimbabwe. It was announced recently that next year's prize will be open to all writers regardless of nationality.
