Best of 2013: It’s Not Just About Books #2
It may come as a surprise but library staff members don't spend all of their lives reading books. The name of this blog is The Buzz…About Books but we love everything at the library–even things that are not in book form. These are some favourites of the year in other formats:

A surprisingly good mystery about a wounded Afghanistan vet, Cormoran Strike, turned detective who battles the perennial British class system, the superrich and his ex-fiance to solve the suspicious death of a supermodel.

A downstairs view of Pride & Prejudice making the Bennett girls look a wee bit spoiled. A downstairs love story and scandal involving a member of the Bennett household make this a compelling story and really good "spinoff".
My Ántonia by Willa Cather, read by George Guidall
• eAudiobook
• eBook
• Large Print
• Regular Print
A classic tale of 19th century immigration set in the American mid-west. The narrator is an American man who remembers his youth on his Grandparen'ts farm and the struggles of some of his new immigrant neighbours. In particular he remembers Ántonia, a young Bohemian girl whose strong character and will help her through some very tough times.
Margaret's favourite DVDs of the year:
Borgen
• Season 1
• Season 2
• Season 3
The leader of the longstanding third-place party, Brigitte Nyborg does not expect to become Prime Minister of Denmark but strange things happen in politics. She soon finds herself compromising her values and neglecting her personal life as she tries to lead the country. People give me strange looks when I rave about this one but it's fascinating.
House of Cards Trilogy
Ian Richardson is delightfully evil in this very Shakespearean tale of British politics. Although the American remake with Kevin Spacey is big news, I don't think it's nearly as good (or as much fun). Watch both and decide for yourself:
House of Cards Trilogy (UK)
House of Cards: the Complete First Season (US)
