The Last Child
By John Hart
One year ago, Johnny Merriman’s idyllic childhood was torn apart when his twin sister, Alyssa disappeared. A lot of things are different now. Johnny’s father has gone and his mother tries to dull the pain however she can. Now thirteen, Johnny is living in a nightmare, trying to avoid his mother’s abusive new boyfriend and keeping social services from finding out just how bad things have become. He believes Alyssa is alive and continues to search for her. Also searching for Alyssa is Detective Clyde Hunt. His career tarnished, Hunt is now a self-appointed watchdog for Johnny and his mother. It’s a problem because Johnny’s search is taking him into dangerous places.
