May the Fourth Be With You: Books for Star Wars Day
May 4th has become a celebration of the Star Wars franchise–especially important this year as fans await the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh installment in the film series. The earliest recorded Star Wars/May 4th reference comes strangely enough from the Conservative Party in the UK who placed an ad to commemorate Margaret Thatcher's inauguration as Prime Minister on May 4, 1979. It read "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie".
The first organized Star Wars-themed celebration on May 4 took place right here in Toronto in 2011 at Toronto Underground Cinema. Now everyone celebrates! Even library branches.

Really serious fans can also celebrate on May 5 on Revenge of the Fifth day.
