Semiotician, novelist, and literary critic Eco examines the western concept of beauty. In addition to illustrations, Eco’s book includes quotes from writers and philosophers.

Lisette’s List by Susan Vreeland

In 1937, the village of Roussillon in Provence is the last place young Parisienne Lisette wants to be but she must relocate to care for her husband’s ageing grandfather, Pascal. Although she is bored at first, the former ochre miner and pigment salesman, entertains her with stories of the artists he has befriended over the years.
