Black Moon: An Astrological Phenomenon

September 30, 2016 | Lynn | Comments (5)

The Internet, especially websites devoted to astrological events, is full of references to tonight's "Black Moon". A black moon refers to when a new moon phase starts in the same month as the previous new moon — two new moons in one month. This last occurred in March 2014, and the next one will be in 2019. This special moon will not be visible, as we are seeing the moon completely in shadow, which means that if the night is clear, the stars will be especially bright. If you are follower of your horoscope or a Wiccan, this night will be important to you and here are some materials to further that interest.

  1. A huge disappointment seeing the TPL blog promoting a pseudo-science (in 2016, no less). This could have been an opportunity to teach more about the beauty of the universe. There was a time when libraries were a bastion of education, now it’s sad to see how low they have gone.

  2. Thank you Selena for the comment, I did include more scientific books in the post, I just did not want to ignore people who do follow the moon for spiritual or religious reasons.
