Does Anyone Remember the FP Yellow Cards?
Today, I had a customer come and ask me for a history of the Bank of Montreal. It made me think back to when I worked at an Investment Bank and a Managing Director sent his minion for a library tour with specific instructions that he be shown the Financial Post(FP) 'yellow cards'. These so-called 'yellow cards' were small yellow booklets on public Canadian companies. While FP has stopped publishing the hard copy of these cards, they are still available in electronic format. Formally called Historical Reports, you can access these reports through the Toronto Public Library website using your library card.
These reports are an excellent source for histories on companies, and include information on capital stock changes, quick reference data, detailed descriptions on operations, financial statements, etc. Easy to download and can be saved as a pdf. You can even access it from your home computer.
Just select Historical Reports and insert a company name or ticker.
