Identity Theft: If You Are a Victim

If you are a victim of identity theft, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre's second Annual Statistical Report 2009 on Mass Marketing Fraud & ID Theft Activities indicates that you are not alone.

Although the total number of Canadian identity theft has decreased from 11,463 in 2008 to 11,109 in 2009, the total reported dollar loss has increased from $6,467,387.75 in 2007 to $10,882,279.04 in 2009. 

If you think you have become a victim of identity theft, here is a list of recommendations that have been compiled from Canadian financial institutions and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada:
