The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. PearsonDon't judge a book by its cover, because the overall meaning of this book will drive you into tears.

Filled with mysteries, adventures, deep romance and a strong, fiery heroine.

The Kiss of Deception, the first book in Mary E. Pearson's incredible Remnant Chronicles, is one of my absolute favorite books. The overall concept of a girl wanting the freedom to love whomever she wants, say whatever she wants, and be whoever she wants is absolutely beautiful. The story takes on a journey of a runaway princess bride to an arranged marriage, that binds two kingdoms together. The lead character, Lia, who has hated the life of a royal all her life, runs away somewhere she can be herself with her best friend. Sure enough she fits in this other town, but waiting for her there is the prince she was betrothed to, and an assassin sent to kill her. She must then keep herself from becoming vulnerable against love, and face challenges of others who either want to find her, kill her, keep her for personal gain, or have secrets against her.

I recommend you read this deep and riveting story that will keep you turning pages, especially getting through the major plot twist that will drive you wild, and wanting to read more!
