Sugar…it’s not so bad

Sugar cubes

The following is what I remember the most from all my years of nutritional science studies:

The professor mentioned that one of the associations (perhaps the American Heart Association?), advocated a diet of not more than 10% fat to treat some condition (perhaps high cholesterol or triglyceride levels?). As you can'tell, I was not paying attention. Then he mentioned the magic words "Quality of life is important too; why live a long life if you deprive yourself of the things you really enjoy?"

I take that to mean everything in moderation. So, despite the current thinking is that sugar is the new evil that must be avoided, I still eat it. I just try to make sure the sugar I eat is quality stuff by making candy myself. It's pretty easy, the most pressing problem being burns resulting from hot syrups or caramel. (If you think you saw me buying bags of candies at Bulk Barn–that was my evil twin).
