Job search help for newcomers from Settlement.org

April 6, 2009 | Frances | Comments (0)

Settlement.org has a great website for newcomers to Canada. Find information on how to job hunt, write resumes, prepare for interviews, using labour market information, what employers want, how to assess your skills and much more.

There is detailed information on skilled trades, licensing and professional certification. They also have eCareer Maps for accounting and teaching professionals and architects.

If you trained as a technologist, see  their Fast Track to Technology Occupations for details about work as a technologist or technician in your field and information about the job market for technologists and technicians in Ontario.

Settlement.org also gives you a place to discuss your settlement issues. There are two discussion forums for job hunters – Professions and Trades and Finding a Job and Working. Get advice from other newcomers and from settlement workers.
