Calling All Students! Start Your Own Summer Company
For young people, starting up your own small business can seem like a risky venture to take. With limited resources and business skills, this idea may be too daunting a task. Factor in the sweat equity it takes to make your small business a success.
With so many variables to consider, young people might think twice about fulfilling that once in a lifetime dream. Or so you thought? Have you heard about Summer Company? No? Did you know that starting your own small business is now a very real and viable option? This is the perfect opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to put their ideas into action while acquiring and enhancing their business acumen skills with help and assistance from the government.
The Ontario Government through the Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, funds a program called Summer Company for young adults between 15-29 years old. This initiative is the Government of Ontario's "flagship youth entrepreneurship program" that aims to help young people start, grow and run a business.
Those accepted into the program will receive a maximum grant of up to $3000 for start-up costs as well as, training and coaching from experienced mentors throughout the summer. While you have the option of starting up any type of business, there are program guidelines that your business must meet. Although the process is very competitive, the opportunity for students to receive training, mentoring, coaching and funding to start-up and run their own summer business is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that shouldn't be passed up. Deadline to apply is May 8, 2015.
