Picture Books for the Beach

Over the past few years, I’ve discovered Toronto’s amazing beaches across the lake on Toronto Island. No need to hop on a plane south to enjoy some sand, sun and surf (well, at least between June and August)

The beach is a great place to relax and unwind—build sandcastles, take a dip in the lake or read a great book.  If you’re bringing your little ones to the beach or setting up your own “beach” at home, here’s a few fun beach-y reads you might want to check out!

  1. I love Ladybug Girl at the Beach, myself – she’s fantastic, and I love the illustrations in those books! (Also what makes that Elisha Cooper you mentioned so good.)
It was also a hit with a 7-yr old girl I just read it to who is not so brave all the time, just like the book’s star.
