Toronto Public Library’s multilingual telephone story service for children answered 300,000 calls last year!

We have stories in English, French, Cantonese, Gujarati, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Somali, Spanish, Tamil and Urdu and other languages will be added in the future to better serve the diverse population of our city.

There are different stories every day and you can choose from stories for younger children (7 and under) and for older children (up to 12).

Dial-A-Story (416-395-5400) 24 hours a day and experience the magic of storytelling!

  1. It saddens me to no end to think that a library, of all institutions, can’t come up with a better story idea for young minds that an ogre who clubs 3 young girls to death while they are sleeping in their beds. What a sick world we live in. There should be a law against such dark thinking, especially where children are concerned. Why not come up with something intelligent and uplifting? The world is dark enough as it is without the Library’s sick contribution. What a shame indeed.
