In Vino Veritas

At this time of year my father-in-law used to repeat an old Italian saying: " a San Martino ogni mosto รจ vino " – by St. Martin's day ( November 11 ) all the grapes are wine. November is the month when wines from this year's harvest are ready to taste, and winemakers and wine lovers get their first indication of the characteristics and quality of the new vintage.

It has been a commodity, a currency, spurred trade and colonization, been part of religious rites and celebrations, and  of course it has been considered a source of inspiration for artists, writers and philosophers.
If you are interested in making, collecting or just enjoying wine, there are books and magazines for you at the  North York Central Library .
