Hello from E-Writer-in-Residence Headquarters!

Hey TPL teens,

I'm dialing in to the World Wide Web from my rotary phone for my inaugural blog post as the TPL's Young Voices E-Writer-in-Residence. Just kidding! I live in the now. I have wifi! And I'm sitting on my couch.

Starting on October 1, you can send me writing for feedback via the form on this page.

I've also got dastardly plans brewing for the TPL Teens blog, where I'll be posting writing tips, videos, guest posts by teen writers, and other stuff, from October 15 to December 15. There's nothing I love more than a good conversation about writing, so check back regularly, and join in the fun.

Who am I? A Toronto girl who grew up in the west end and still lives here. My local library branch was basically my second home. As a kid, I read like a fish, believed I was Nancy Drew's soul sister, and made up plays that I forced all the kids on my street to act in. When I got older, I decided to keep doing what I loved for a living (writing). I'm the author of teen novels, poetry collections, an anthology about female superheroes, a four-issue girl pirate comic, and a biography of my sci fi-writing grandmother.

See you on October 15th, when my blogstravangza begins!

XO,
Emily

P.S. I leave you with a photo of moi, writing secret poems on my mom's old typewriter, at the age of twelve:
