TRL Renovation: what a difference a few days make

The re:vitalization and renovations continue of the city's largest public library, Toronto Reference Library.

Is it possible that a rope and a cable are all that holds these beams up   Snow covered I-beams swing into place

A crane blocked off Asquith for a few hours over several days this week, as workers began installing the steel superstructure of what will eventually become the 3 storey Glass Entrance Cube. A few days ago the snow was flying as the steel beams arrived. Now the sun is out and the beams are moving into place. Our thanks to motorists, and pedestrians, in the area for their patience.

Thank-you Toronto commuters    Yes that crane is tall    Beginning to take shape

Our Browsery which includes popular books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and audiobooks (all available to borrow), will push north to Collier in a large curved wall of glass. In-floor heating will keep the space cozy for readers during those cold winter afternoons.

Browsery windows are starting to look like real windows  Radient Flooring in the new Browsery TD Gallery takes shape

Our west wall is pushing out to Yonge Street and the TD Gallery area is taking shape now that drywall is going up and the ceiling is being installed.

Watch this blog-space for more news and checkout our new Facebook page for more pictures and news.

Meantime, why not visit us at Yonge & Bloor (789 Yonge Street) and check out the new changes already in place, or even make a gift  to keep one of the city's best – and free – services vital.
