Repair Manuals for Electronics from SAMS
SAMS Technical Publishing contains over 275,000 consumer electronics repair manuals and is available from home with a library card or from a computer in any Toronto Public Library branch. SAMS provides schematics for TVs, VCRs, Radios, etc. from 1946 to today.
You can search this database by model/chassis number, by Brand or by the SAMS number.
SAMS contains different types of manuals with varying levels of detail. A SAMS Photofact manual contains a complete set of schematics, whereas an OEM owner's manual is the instruction manual included when you purchase a product.
SAMS is also a source for parts. If you need a hard to find replacement part or just maintenace parts, use the online form to find out if SAMS has it.
The Business, Science and Technology Department at the Toronto Reference Library also has a large collection of print schematics published by Radio College Canada which go back to 1927.
For general repair books you can also search the Library Catalogue using terms such as Radios — Repairing or Televisions — Repairing.
To use SAMS from home, select Articles and Online Research from the Library Home Page. From the A-Z List of All Databases, choose SAMS and enter you library card number and PIN number.
Don't forget, staff at the third floor reference desk can help you find the schematics you need.
