Members of HackLab.TO brought four 3-D printers and gave a live demonstration by printing out a part for a camera.

Last week 3-D printers were in action at the Toronto Reference Library when members of HackLab.TO, a community of web programmers,
artists and inventors spoke about the global Maker Movement and shared some of their creations.

Audience members were eager to see how the 3-D printers worked and enjoyed having the opportunity to speak with Eric, Rob and Alice following their presentation.

More than ninety people attended the HackLab.TO presentation.

This event was
the first of a two-part series on Technology and Creative Community Spaces, being
held at the Toronto Reference Library. The second program will feature Interaccess Electronic Media Arts Centre, a multimedia makerspace, on Wednesday, Nov. 13th. This series provides an introduction to the makerspace movement and the new Digital Innovation Hubs
which are coming to the Toronto Reference Library, as well as to the new
Fort York Branch (opening in 2014).

The audience was excited about projects created by members of the HackLab such as electronic jewelry, and this flashing light cape made by Alice Thorne.
