United Way Agencies

Today's featured agency is The Good Neighbours' Club , "a registered charity quietly serving over 5,000 disadvantaged, unemployed or unemployable, marginally-housed and homeless men, over the age of 50 in Toronto…operating in the heart of Toronto since 1933."

Services are provided throughout the day, viz.: Mornings (muffins and coffee); Afternoons (showers, clothes' washing, recreational activities, computer access, consultation with a Street Health nurse, nourishing lunches); Evenings (evening meals before members head off to shelters for another day). Other services include: Members Who Go Missing (a network is activated to search for missing members; members are encouraged to carry their Good Neighbours' Club membership card at all times); and, Final Arrangements for dead members are looked after with dignity for the deceased in the case of no known relatives.
