Graffiti Moon is an entrancing novel that stands out in the YA genre. The story follows Lucy and Ed as struggle they through on of the craziest nights of their lives. The book is very real and makes references to lots of real life artists. A good summer read full of suspense and romance.
I was almost certain I would not have liked Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley because of the blurb but I decided to give it a try anyways and I have mixed feelings about it. It describes one unforgettable night when two young adults set out to find a graffiti artist named shadow but what they do not know is that shadow is one of them. Graffiti Moon had an almost poetic structure and there were a lot of hidden metaphors that you really need to think to get which I appreciate. However, I personally am not a fan of heavier and darker novels such as this one so although the novel was not to my liking, I cannot say that it was a bad novel and I’m sure many people would love it. However, I really did enjoy how we as the readers know what’s happening and what each character is thinking at all times because the perspectives change. I liked how throughout the novel, Crowley was able to keep the plot romantic without it having to be too cheesy, emotional and lose its sophistication. I found it to be very inspirational because it taught me that every person has a story, I reason that they act the way they are and so we are in no position to judge then on their outer appearance because you can change what’s on the outside but never what’s on the inside. I will definitely recommend this novel to people because while I didn’t particularly enjoy it, I am sure others will.
