I absolutely loved everything about See What I See by Gloria Whelan. From the characters to the plot to the almost poetic fluidity, See what I see is everything I hope a novel has. Such an intense novel packed with so much punch which makes up for how short the novel actually is. I loved how realistic it was and how it didn’t sugar coat anything because life often doesn’t go the way we plan it and this book taught me that it’s okay and that only after giving something up can you achieve something greater. It is such a touching story about courage, family, integrity, determination and a dream that must be seen through. I loved how although it was covering a heavy semi depressing topic it was able to still be elegant, and not too cheesy or forced. I honestly was not expecting such an emotionally powerful plot or that it was so beautifully written but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. Personally, another reason I loved this novel so much is because there was such detail and respect given to visual art and how beautiful the ugliest paintings can be. I would recommend this novel to both any and every one, even if you don’t particularly enjoy painting or emotional novel I feel as if this is a perfect opportunity to branch out and I believe that everybody who reads this novel will fall in love with it.
