  1. Wake by Robert J. Sawyer was honestly quite a disappointment. I had very high hopes for this novel and it simply did not reach my expectations. I expect a good book to pull me in right from the very first page but in this case, I felt no connection or depth from Wake. I loved the concept of the novel because it is definitely an interesting twist on the usual futuristic set novels but the delivery was lacking. I personally have read countless futuristic novels of the same genre and I know when such a novel is successful when it is able to be realistic while still being creative which Wake was unable to do. Although it was quite humorous to hear what Americans think of us whom live in Canada and there were points in the novel that I found myself enjoying but overall, I think it was not the best book. I would not recommend this novel to anybody and in fact I would actually encourage people to stay away from it because it was so long, boring and I often times found myself skimming through parts because I just wanted to get it over with which is never good in a novel. I found this book to be bland; not much depth and such a disappointment. I suggest to those who might consider reading this to look into novels such as Cinder or Matched because I feel as if they are a lot more entertaining.
