Lovebot Invasion

Lovebot
Toronto's being invaded by robots.

Little robots.

Little robots with big hearts.

The Lovebot Invasion was started by artist Matthew Del Degan, who decided to "encourage Torontonians to reflect on their surroundings and become
thankful for the small, good deeds that constantly go unnoticed" all around them on a daily basis. To do this, he's created little cute cast concrete robot sculptures that he places around the city. Each robot is associated with a story of human kindness he's collected through his website.

As I write this post, eight robots can be found in the streets of Toronto, although Matthew has plans to put out around 100 over the course of the project. He's published a map of all the 'bots on his site too, so you can see where they're located and read the stories connected to them.

So next time you're out, keep your eyes peeled for a little concrete robot with a big heart! Or if you've got a story about a kind act, why not send it along to Matthew?

  1. Wow! That is just a brilliant idea! The robots are extremely cute! You’d think that robots would be more…well heartless! Fortunately this robot has a heart! In most of the robot movies I’ve watched…the creator/ inventor always forgot to put the heart! Then destruction began but, luckily this time it’s totally turned around! I really want to see one…I assume it’ll bring a smile to every person who notices these!

  2. I want to go see one of these in real life!!! I agree that random acts of kindness from strangers are the most profound gestures, simply because they care for you without an agenda, or knowing who you really are. This blind love and acceptance are now being celebrated with thes robots!!

  3. This is very cute 🙂 I agree that robots are usually portrayed as heartless so it is good to see a twist. However, what exactly do the robots do? Are they just for decoration or do they do something as well?
