How do you find a murderer who has been murdered as well? Brothers Rueben and Cole have to do just that.

14 year-old Rueben has always had a heightened psychic connection with others. He is able to feel the emotion around him, especially when the emotions are linked to his brother and sister. When his 19 year-old sister, Rachel, is kidnapped, raped and murdered, he feels her pain. It’s almost as if he’s there with her. Through that connection, he also knows when her killer is murdered. With no trace and leads, the police are unable to release Rachel’s body to the family until the case is solved. With the case going cold, the brothers set out on a journey to find out what happened to Rachel’s killer, and hopefully lead the police to his body so that they can finally lay their sister to rest in peace.

As they stumble deeper and deeper into their mission, they come across many foes, who want the truth to be hidden, and will go to any measures to ensure that it is. With Cole’s fierce temper, and lack of concern for his wellbeing, Rueben must be the voice of reason and try his best to keep his brother from getting both of them killed.

Kevin Brooks doesn’t hold back and includes all the nitty-gritty details. At times, the descriptions can be a bit grisly, but like I said, Kevin Brooks doesn’t hold anything back, and hits you with the full force of his writing prowess.
