Exercises come in all shapes and sizes: The secret to ultimate fitness
Hello to all my e-fitness followers out there. Today I am going to be talking about one of the most vital yet most often ignored training secrets out there. That great big secret is: Rest.
I have been pushing myself really hard for a few months and earlier last week I had absolutely nothing left in the tank. I was sore, I was tired, I had headaches and I just felt sluggish in general.
So I took the hint from my body and decided to take a week off. Now to add a little bit of context for anyone who is not quite sure why people do not like rest days, when you are training for a goal or competition, rest days are one of the most dreaded days on the calendar. They are incredibly important but often overlooked components of a successful workout program. Especially when we start to make progress with our goals, we are loathe to stop, thinking we will lose our stride.
Rest is very important however as your body needs to recover from the punishment it endures when you train.
That being said, I turned to one of my favorite rest activities last week and allowed my body to heal.
My absolute favorite thing to do when I have time off is read, so today I am going to be recommending one of the books that I have going at the moment.
I know this book is on Cameron's list and I have heard many good things about it from anyone who has read it.
I am only about a quarter of the way in but I find the book to be an engaging read that paints an interesting image of a post-Dorothy Oz.
The book is darker and more serious than I thought it would be so far and it even reminds me a little of Veronica Roth's Divergent.
Anyways, enough on Dorothy Must Die.
My question for you this week is:
What do you like to do when you need a "rest day"?

I like to watch movies and read books.
I remember my dad resting for days on end when he first started to train for marathons. Also lots of food disappearing.
As for the book, hmm I never read it but it looks interesting even though I don’t really like Divergent.
It’s only like Divergent in the sense that you have this meek and very average type of girl who suddenly gets caught up in a cause and has to train to build herself up etc… To bring it up one level, there is magic and all of the lovable creatures you remember from Oz.
You might still like it. Take a look at Cameron’s book reviews for a better idea of what it’s all about
