Word Out gets Festive, Comics Style!
Earlier this year, some of the Word Out crew crashed TCAF – the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. TCAF is one of the biggest and best alternative comic book festivals in the world, and draws a huge range of talent; this year's festival featured such amazing artists as Kate Beaton (Hark a Vagrant), Andrew Hussie (MS Paint Adventures), and Bryan Lee O'Malley (Scott Pilgrim).
The best part is its free, and hosted right downtown at the Library's own central branch!
It was a pretty rammed crowd, with over 17,000 enthusiastic comic artists, readers, and fans all piling into the library over the course of the weekend. The Word Out crew was particularly lucky to be joined at their booth by two of the talented artists from this year's booklists: Corinne Mucha (Freshman) and Kagan McLeod (Infinite Kung Fu). Both stopped by to hang out and meet some folks, sign some books and draw some pictures.
It was pretty amazing to meet so many of our favourite artists and writers, not to mention all of the comic book lovers that came to TCAF. We can't wait until next year's festival!
