Join us at the Downsview Branch on the morning of Thursday April 19th, 2012 to participate in this year's Keep Toronto Reading Festival with celebrated Children's author Frieda Wishinsky.

Through her Canadian Flyer Adventure series, Wishinsky brings to life a number of cities across Canada, helping to broaden the “reader city” theme of this April's Keep Toronto Reading festival  beyond Toronto’s boarders.

Each book in this series, geared towards school aged kids, takes the reader to a different part of the country at a fascinating point in history. Protagonists Emily and Matt experience the past firsthand by travelling back in time on an antique red sled to discover: Halifax at the time of the Halifax explosion; the birth of the female vote in Winnipeg; and Dawson City during the time of the Gold Rush, among other adventures.

This year’s Keep Toronto Reading Festival  invites people to come out to 100 events taking place in over 50 library branches and partner venues across the city – including readings, lectures, panel discussions, walking tours, workshops and more.
