Remembering Tears | Emma M.
You said you’d be there,
Never leave me forever and always.
Yeah, right.
If you’d meant what you’d said,
Then we wouldn’t be here right now.
With me in an itchy black dress looking at the grass.
Feeling all the sympathetic stares coming at me,
From all angles.
With my face wet with salt water tears,
And my hands clenched in fists.
With that guy at the front talking about the circle of life and
Blah, blah, blah.
Who cares what he’s saying when you’re the only thing on my mind?
You probably don’t care.
Why should you, when you left?
Why does it matter that I’m standing in front of a gray slab of stone,
With your name engraved on the front,
And forever engraved in my heart.
Maybe you were lying when you said we’d be together forever.
And maybe it was a cruel joke when you told me that
We could never be far apart.
So perhaps all those ‘I love yous’
Were said with amusement,
Cause you knew this would happen all along.
But who am I kidding?
I could never believe any of that.
Not with you here,
In my heart, mind and body,
Forever and Always.
Because even if you were guessing,
And had no idea what the future held.
You were right,
And you always are.
