The splendid show at the AGO explores the role of kingship in the subcontinent of India during the Maharaja era.

For further information you can read the exhibition catalogue.

You may also enjoy reading these books.

Princely Rajasthan Rajput Palaces and Mansions    Maharajas' Jewels    Costumes and Textiles of Royal India

What held my attention the most were the processions and royal regalia, especially the chauri (a plume of yak tail hair) and the morchhal (a fan of peacock feathers.)

A jewel of an exhibition!
