Please do your research into the time period and the play before submitting. DO NOT watch the film, we are not looking for actors to mimc the performances that have come before them.
CROOKS – Black male between the ages 30 – 60. We are looking at a wide age range of actors for this role. Please do your research into the time period and the play itself before submitting. Crooks should have the physicality of someone who suffers from a back injury. Hunched over maybe but a definite physical disability. He is the only black man in a very white world.
SLIM – Male, caucasian, between the ages of 30 – 40s. Slim should have kindness and gravitas He should be tall and slender.
CANDY – Male, caucasian, over the age of 50, or can at least play older. He also carries with him the physical disability of losing his hand. Candy might be the oldest but still has a child like manner to him.
CURLY – Male, caucasian 20 – 25. Young and hotheaded, Curly should be stout with a chip on his shoulder, for what he lacks in size he makes up for with bravado.
CURLEY’S WIFE – 18 – 25. She wears her sexuality on her sleeve but its a cover for her loneliness in a male dominated world. Once again look at the time period.
THE BOSS – 40s – 60s The landlord/manager of the farm, he has an intimidating presence born out of necessity, not nature. He takes pride in his job and runs a tight ship.
CARLSON – 20’s – 50’s We will see a wide age range of actors for this role. He is one of the crew. Hard worker, maybe a little rambunctious. He’s been on the farm for long enough to know how things work.
WHIT – 30’s – 40’s Much like Carlson he has been on the farm for a while and knows what’s what, he’s a bit softer with his approach but takes no bullshit at the same time.
